{"id":4802,"date":"2019-04-20T16:40:44","date_gmt":"2019-04-20T22:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.michaellinenberger.com\/blog\/?p=4802"},"modified":"2019-04-20T16:40:44","modified_gmt":"2019-04-20T22:40:44","slug":"my-obsession-with-desktop-outlook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michaellinenberger.com\/blog\/my-obsession-with-desktop-outlook\/","title":{"rendered":"My Obsession with DESKTOP Outlook"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>You know, it seems almost old fashioned these days to <em>not<\/em> primarily be using a web or smartphone version of a mail app, or anything else, really. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously, Gmail and the Google Docs started that trend to web-based apps being primary, and then Microsoft responded swiftly and smartly with their web (and smartphone) product line. And there are a ton of other web-based productivity tools out there, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, when I have a choice with Microsoft Office, I just can\u2019t bring myself to use the web-based versions much. Rather, I am still obsessed with the <em>desktop<\/em> versions\u2014the <em>Windows <\/em>desktop versions specifically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For good reason of course, they are so incredibly feature-rich\ncompared to all other versions, <em>and I use\na lot of those features<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Case in point. I use Quick Steps all the time in Windows desktop\nOutlook. Probably 40 times a day. I\u2019d feel super cramped without it. And it\ndoes not exist anywhere else. Not in Mac desktop Outlook, not in Outlook\nonline, and of course not in the Outlook smartphone app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>There are probably ten or twenty other features just like that. And they aren\u2019t just <em>fun <\/em>features, they are features that enable me to <em>get through my mail a ton faster<\/em>\u2014I am talking <em>major<\/em> productivity improvements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, that\u2019s largely what my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaellinenberger.com\/InboxNinja\/\">Outlook Inbox Ninja video\ncourse<\/a> is about: tools (and corresponding processes) in Windows desktop\nOutlook that you can use to get through mail quickly, and then near-empty your Inbox\neach time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s really only made possible by using Windows <strong>desktop<\/strong> Outlook (at least part of each day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, while many people are in love with the online and smartphone\napp world, don\u2019t forget the power and productivity that is possible with a\ngood, traditional, Windows application.
